Professional Teeth Whitening

As much as brushing and flossing maintain your mouth’s overall health, your teeth don’t stay white forever. As you get older, your enamel wears away and your dentin becomes darker, making it harder to keep your smile so pearly white. That’s why, from time to time, it makes sense to have your teeth professionally whitened. It brightens up your smile lightning quick.

The Two Types of Teeth Whitening
There are two types of teeth whitening — vital and non-vital. Vital teeth whitening is the most common type, and it means a hydrogen peroxide product is applied directly to the surface of the teeth. Non-vital teeth whitening is when a root canal has allowed a stain to form on the inside of the tooth, so a whitening agent is placed inside the tooth with a temporary filling placed over it. Our team is able to explain which type would be best for you and why.

What You Should Know About Teeth Whitening
For at least 24 hours following your teeth whitening treatment, you should avoid all foods and beverages with high pigment levels. Sticking to white and/or colorless foods and beverages is best. This means avoiding dark-colored solids and liquids, such as beets, coffee, candies, mustard, red wine, soda, tea, and tomato juice or sauce.

Why is Professional Teeth Whitening Better for You?
Professional teeth whitening is more effective than over-the-counter teeth whitening kits, as our team uses a stronger solution than what the public is able to purchase from the store. Additionally, professional teeth whitening is more trusted because our team has been doing this for years and knows what to look for in order to declare the process a definitive success.

Over-the-counter teeth whitening kits that are completed at home are not as immediately effective, though they are less expensive. They make for a great substitute if an in-office treatment is not available to you or if you would like to maintain the effects of an in-office treatment. These kits typically take between a week and a month of consistent usage for full effect.
